A lightweight hard and aerated white mineral formed from volcanic glass this material is used in potting mixes to enhance drainage provide aeration to plant roots and retain oxygen moisture and nutrients from soluble fertilizers. It is ideal for creating custom potting mixes or raised bed mixes in bulk. Simply combine with compost soil and other components to formulate a specialty blend particularly suited for plants that thrive in well-aerated and well-drained conditions such as cacti succulents and orchids. The angular properties of coarse material make it especially effective for producing free-draining potting mixes.

In seed raising mixtures this material promotes faster germination and better seedling growth. Seedlings can be easily removed with minimal root damage during transplantation ensuring minimal disturbance.
